Guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel and pianist Brad Mehldau came up together in New York’s underground jazz scene of the early 1990s, playing in Greenwich Village clubs such as Smalls alongside the generation that would go on to redefine jazz. Rosenwinkel became one of the most distinctive and widely imitated instrumental voices of his time; his harmonic language and sound shaped the way an entire generation hears the guitar. Mehldau reinvented the jazz piano trio and created one of the most unmistakable bodies of work in contemporary music, moving effortlessly between Bach, the Great American Songbook, and modern songwriting. The two have remained close musical companions for decades; Mehldau also appeared on Rosenwinkel’s acclaimed album Deep Song. Their performances together are rare occasions. At the Gasometer, they reunite as a quartet with Doug Weiss on bass and Joe Peri on drums: two defining voices at the height of their artistry. 00:00 Introduction 00:03 “Days of Dilbert Delaney” - Brad Mehldau Kurt Rosenwinkel - guitar Brad Mehldau - piano Doug Weiss - bass Joe Peri - drums Audio recording - Alex Hoetzinger Videoproduction and audiomix - Alex Hoetzinger Recorded live at Zig Zag Jazz Festival in Berlin/Gasometer on 25.07.2026 #KurtRosenwinkel #BradMehldau #Jazz #ModernJazz #ContemporaryJazz #JazzGuitar #JazzPiano #JazzQuartet #LiveJazz #JazzImprovisation #DougWeiss #JoePeri #DaysOfDilbertDelaney #ZigZagJazzFestival #BerlinJazz #GasometerBerlin #LiveInBerlin #VictorsPlaces
