It All Stopped in Yeppoon | Nowhere Fit, Then We Got Sick

We left Rockhampton expecting an easy run to the Capricorn Coast, but almost immediately the day began to unravel. Our first dump point was blocked, finding another took us into Yeppoon, and then the size of our Ranger and 24-foot Silverline became a real problem. Several older caravan parks simply were not designed for a modern rig of our length, while another promising option did not accept dogs. We eventually found a site with enough room, but then Sue became sick—and I followed soon afterwards. For the next three days, the cameras barely came out and our journey came to a complete stop. Once we were well enough to move again, we explored a little of Yeppoon and the Capricorn Coast before heading north through Marlborough. With Carmila Beach looking uncertain and another coastal camp not feeling right, we continued until we finally found the relaxed and affordable Brandy Bottle Golf Course Caravan Park. This episode shows the side of caravan travel that does not always make the brochures: blocked facilities, unsuitable sites, changing plans, illness on the road—and the relief of finally finding somewhere that works.
