Crane Rescue - Technical Rescue Training - Arizona

Technical Rescue is one of the best parts of my job as a firefighter. We train weekly on various different scenarios and technical disciplines. In this training exercise, we simulated that a crane operator or civilian had a medical emergency at the top of the crane. They were incapacitated in some manner and needed to be lowered to the ground via a rope system. We utilized a twin tension rope system in a skate block configuration to lower the patient to the ground. We also had the opportunity to rappel off of the crane for additional training and fun! I mean who wouldn't want to do that?! Most of my peers don't spend as much time on ropes as I do (canyoneering / rock climbing) so its extremely beneficial for everyone to get a few rappels in. I hope you enjoy this video! If you have any questions please ask! *** The drone was flown by me (a licensed commercial drone pilot) with permission of the crane company. All FAA rules and regulations were followed and clearance to fly was granted by the FAA prior to take off. Footage captured using a GoPro Hero 10 and DJI Mavic Air 2.
