In this video I answer this question of James O'Neill, share some features of my newly built speaker and also why there was a longish break from making videos. In summary: Sealed, BR / MLTL and TL each have their own signature distortion BR & TL have half octave more low extension, depending on the 'cabin gain', you may need this to achieve the bandwidth you are after BRs and MLTL are easier to tune and match to a room than TLs With sealed it is easy to achieve a critically damped enclosure Sealed needs more damping to not sound hollow (and I don't like the sound of damping material - it's music dis-consonant), even when large. Critically damped TLs with a minimum of damping material are hard to achieve (but possible) TLs seem to least agitate room modes and entirely avoid the sound of a HW resonator For a given driver always consider its intended application and power source it was designed and used for - then optimise for your application. More to follow on my 845B tube amp, parafeed / series feed, matching load to the new speaker, DF, etc, ... Support this channel here: https://buymeacoffee.com/ebroekman
