Bongó Club's third class: back to the 1&1 Technique to layer three different rhythms in Afro-Latin Style and take your coordination one step further. Bongó Club is my online program for technical, rhythmic and musical training to learn to play the bongo from scratch. I play on screen non-stop and you follow me in real time, making real music from the very first video. You don't need to read sheet music or memorize theory before you start — this is where the body learns by doing. Bongó Club is The Percussion Code in action: my method for integrating technique, rhythm and musicality into a single gesture, the Percussionist's Mindset. 🥁 WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON IN CLASS 3 This class returns to the 1&1 Technique with a bigger challenge: three different rhythmic cells that you'll learn separately and then interlock, just like what happens in real music when one pattern shifts into another. You'll: Introduce and practice the rhythmic structure of each of the three cells. Work on the melodic structure of each cell separately, listening closely to how the sounds combine. Chain the three variations together in a concatenated step, at a steady tempo. Finish by practicing the full arrangement. Level: Beginner with progression.
