Resolution Passed Against The Kasturirangan Report | ಕಸ್ತೂರಿ ರಂಗನ್ ವರದಿ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ನಿರ್ಣಯ ಅಂಗೀಕಾರ

Karnataka Legislative Assembly has unanimously adopted a resolution opposing the implementation of the Kasturirangan report concerning the Western Ghats. The issue was discussed at length during the special session of the Karnataka Legislature. Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar said the state would seek an appointment with the Centre to discuss Karnataka’s concerns and proposed taking an all-party delegation to Delhi once time is granted. The Kasturirangan report has become a major issue for farmers and residents in the Western Ghats region. The current draft notification proposes an Ecologically Sensitive Area across parts of 10 Karnataka districts, covering more than 20,000 sq km. Karnataka has until September 27 to submit its objections. Meanwhile, Forest Minister Ramalinga Reddy said in the Legislative Council that the government plans to seek one year from the Centre to conduct a physical survey.
