Predator GROOMS a “Child”—Then Police Knock!

According to investigators, James A. White believed he was messaging a child online. The account was actually controlled by a detective—and those conversations eventually brought police to his doorstep. On April 14, 2026, detectives from the Chillicothe Police Department, assisted by the Watseka Police Department and the Iroquois County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant at White’s home in Watseka, Illinois. The operation followed a ten-month cyber investigation. Officers seized electronic devices and arrested the 42-year-old on charges involving alleged online grooming and child exploitation. Police reports describe White repeatedly sending affectionate messages to the undercover account, including referring to the person as his “soulmate.” This bodycam footage shows the officers’ encounter with White at his home. CASE UPDATE: On May 19, 2026, a Peoria County grand jury indicted White on a felony grooming charge. The indictment alleges he used the internet to lure someone he believed was a child between November 25, 2025, and April 14, 2026.
