Off-Grid Cabin Adventure Turns Wild! Freezing Swim to Save My Drone—Then I Catch My Biggest Trout What started as an adventure from our off-grid cabin turned into a trip I won't soon forget! After crashing my DJI Neo 2 into a remote brook and watching it go down a waterfall, I later ended the trip by landing my biggest trout yet — a 12.5-inch personal record! On Day 2, we left the cabin on our 6x6s and headed up North Arm Brook as far as we could ride. From there, we continued on foot, hiking and fishing our way up a rugged ravine filled with waterfalls. The farther we went, the more challenging it became, eventually requiring us to set up a rope to climb beside one of the falls. Higher up the ravine, we finally reached the main waterfall tucked between the rock walls. I tried using my DJI Neo 2 to track me as I approached the falls, but something went wrong. The drone crashed into the brook and was swept down the waterfall. On the way back, I got into the water with my fishing rod and managed to recover it from beneath the falls. After returning to the cabin for dinner and an evening off-grid, we headed back out to fish the brook the following day. I hooked into a massive trout and nearly landed it before losing it. We could see several big trout hiding beneath the logs and spent the next half hour trying to get another chance. When we noticed the trout I'd hooked earlier was struggling, I went into the brook with my net and managed to recover it. Back at the cabin, we measured it at 12.5 inches — my biggest trout yet and a new personal record!
