Spend a few days with me in my rural home as a Xhosa wife based in Gauteng. Enjoy the few days leading up to “ukuphuma kwamakhwenkwe”, from initiation school. This event was an emergency as part of the means to end the fighting of our young boys. Umgidi was not done because of the timing which was still within the mourning phase.
