As part of our Rural Schools’ Agroecology Programme, Rural Agroecology Network (RAN) continues to champion climate education and holistic learning in rural schools for learners aged 9-15 years in primary schools. Recognising our role as a key stakeholder in children’s education, we joined the Uganda national Primary Leaving Examinations briefing held on 30th October, 2026. Joining Alerek Primary School, one of the schools hosting our programme in North-eastern Uganda.
During the engagement, we shared messages of encouragement to the learners and distributed essential scholastic materials, including mathematical sets and pens, to support their preparation ahead of their final examinations.
One of the most significant aspects of this initiative was its contribution to bridging the resource gap faced by most learners in rural disadvantaged schools we support generously. Providing seemingly simple but essential items, such as pens and mathematical sets, we helped address a practical barrier that prevents many learners from accessing the basic materials they need to sit their examinations with confidence.
We were particularly encouraged by the Headteacher, Mrs Venty Akech Obura, who appreciated the gesture, noting: “This pens and mathematical sets provided will go along way in easing the pain most of the learners had, many had no sets because they can't afford and giving these items is going to increase their zeal to study and do their examinations well.”
Every child deserves the opportunity, resources and confidence to learn, grow and succeed.
