Teaching letter sounds doesn’t have to start with an exercise book! ❤️ In this video, I’m sharing simple and practical ways parents can introduce letter sounds at home through play, stories, tracing, objects and everyday experiences. You can: 🔤 Tell simple stories around the letter sound — in English or your home language, including Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, and other Nigerian languages. ✋ Use sand or sandpaper for tracing. 🧩 Use Play-Doh or homemade dough for forming letters. 🌾 Use eba or another suitable homemade dough when Play-Doh isn’t available — without wasting food. 🏠 Explore your environment and identify objects that begin with the target sound. 🎲 Turn learning into a fun, interactive activity instead of rushing straight into writing in an exercise book. Most importantly, let learning be playful, engaging and enjoyable. Children can learn a lot before they are introduced to formal writing. If you’re a parent, caregiver or early-years educator, I hope these ideas help you make letter-sound learning easier and more meaningful at home. What activity do you use to introduce letter sounds? Share your ideas in the comments! 💬 #LetterSounds #PhonicsForKids #EarlyYears #ParentingTips #AfricanParents
