PROFILES: Isabel M. Martinez

Interviewed in her Toronto studio, Isabel M. Martínez’s PROFILES video, the artist reflects on her evolution from sculpture to photography. Manipulating light in ways that go against the norms of photography, she approaches the medium as a generative object using chemistry, light, and time to create illusions of what is real and what is imagined. PROFILES is a series of fifteen 5-minute portrait videos showcasing Latin American artists of the diaspora based in Canada. PROFILES was created by Director/Curator Tamara Toledo and filmmaker Peter Riddihough.
