This is an example of how to find the value of a constant, mean, mode and probability from the probability density function (PDF)' f(x), of a continuous random variable. To find the constant, k, integrate the PDF in the limits of the PDF. To obtain the mean (expectation) integrate xf(x) in the limits given. To find the mode, differentiate f(x), equate to zero, solve the resulting equation. The solution(s) is/are the mode(s) if it/they is/are within the limits.
