HIV is one of the world’s most stigmatized conditions. In Nigeria, an HIV-positive diagnosis can sometimes mean facing rejection, isolation, and the painful feeling that you are no longer worthy of love. For this episode, I spent time with Undetectable Chika, a man who has lived with HIV for over 8 years. But Chika is more than his diagnosis. He is an HIV advocate and influencer using his story to educate thousands of people, challenge stigma, and remind people living with HIV that they are not defined by their status and they are absolutely deserving of love. Through his work, Chika even helps connect people living with HIV who are looking for companionship, in a society that too often makes them feel unlovable. This conversation is about HIV, but it is also about love, humanity, stigma, resilience, and what it means to truly see another person.
