Wonderful American lyric soprano Leontyne Price with certainty is one of the best sopranos of the 20th century. "When her voice was in its prime, it was capable of effortlessly soaring from a smoky mezzo to pure soprano with a perfect high C". She enjoyed singing the works of Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Among her accolades, Price has earned 19 Grammy awards as well as the Presidential Medal of Freedom In 1964. She was and is still an inspiration to women of color. One of her many quotes was “Accomplishments have no color.” So true!! Many consider her a living legend, she is 93.
