A weekend holiday visit to the North Norfolk Railway that I've not visit since 2019, was hosted a six day 'Festival on Rails' event as part of the railway 50th anniversary of the line opening back in 1975. The Bank Holiday weekend had an industrial themed with industrial locos in action on an intensive timetable of four trains including the London North Eastern Railway 'Quad-Arts' carriages, as well the recreation of the reopening train of suburban coaches plus brake van and a short set of Victorian carriages. The Industrial theme of the event was going to have Peckett 0-6-0 saddle tank "Ashington No 5" (visiting from the North Tyneside Steam Railway) that worked trains when the line reopened in 1975. but sadly, the loco was postponed for next year due to returning back after overhaul. However the main star of the event was the lost Hunslet 16-inch 0-6-0 saddle tank No.1589 "Newstead" which has return to steam for the first time since the early 1970s. Other industrial locos in action was follow Hunslet 0-6-0 saddle tank 'Austerity' No.18 and Hudswell-Clarke 0-6-0 saddle tank No.1700 "Wissington". The fourth loco in action with the three Industrial locos was Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway 2-8-0 7F Class No.13809 which is celebrating 100 years since the loco was built at Darlington in 1925. Filmed on Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th August 2025.
