1987 Easter Epic — Islanders vs Capitals, Four Overtimes to Decide Game 7

On April 18–19, 1987, the New York Islanders and Washington Capitals played one of the most unforgettable Game 7s in NHL history. Washington had led the series 3–1, but New York forced a deciding night at Capital Centre. What followed became the “Easter Epic”: four overtimes, 128:47 of hockey, 73 saves by Kelly Hrudey, 54 by Bob Mason, and Pat LaFontaine’s winner at 8:47 of the fourth overtime. This documentary reconstructs the game from the series comeback through regulation, the growing physical toll of sudden death, the late-night crowd and locker-room exhaustion, and the broken play that finally ended it.
