Vauxhall came on strong in the 80's and 90's with a blistering range of sports versions of its established motoring line up. These included the Astra GTE, Nova GSI and Lotus Carlton among many others. Positive sales figures convinced Vauxhall it could gain a handle in the performance market so plans for a new, performance focussed roadster was born. Coincidently, at the same time, Lotus were looking for a design partner to help fund changes to their Elise model to conform to new crash regulations and a deal was struck. As part of the deal Lotus would develop and produce the new car at their Hethel plant. While the new Elise would be fitted with a 1. 8L Toyota engine Vauxhall initially provided their own 2. 2L engine, and later the engine our car is fitted with, the more powerful 2L turbo charged unit producing 200BHP. Our car is a very special example having covered just 12, 431 miles from new. It has led a cossetted life with regular servicing despite the low mileage and has had a recent full service and timing belt change for the current owner. The car is immaculate in every way, great care has been taken to preserve the cars paintwork - protective film is currently fitted to any areas that might suffer stone chips and the interior looks barely used.
