Yu Jun-won finished first on MBC's Boys Fantasy in 2023, and the prize was a debut in Fantasy Boys. He never debuted with them. On 8 October 2026 a Seoul court ordered him to pay the show's production company 685 million won, less than a quarter of the roughly 3 billion won it claimed, and the company says that is not enough. This is the record of how a first-place finish became a damages ruling, and what each side has said along the way. THE RECORD 30 March - 8 June 2023: MBC airs Boys Fantasy: After School Season 2. Yu Jun-won finishes first in the live final. 23 August 2023: Fantasy Boys will debut as eleven, without him. The reason given: a disagreement between his parents and the agency. The agency's account: two unauthorised absences and demands to change the contract. His side's account: broken trust in the contract talks, not money. 21 September 2023: Fantasy Boys debut with New Tomorrow. October 2023: Phunky Studio sues him for 3 billion won in damages. 24 November 2023: the Seoul Western District Court rejects his request to suspend the exclusive contract, finding most of the terms followed the culture ministry's standard exclusive contract and his points "not unfairly disadvantageous" compared with it; his side bears the costs. The same day, his side tells Sports Kyunghyang the decision confirmed no concrete exclusive contract existed and says it will not appeal. 4 June 2026: Conti announces it signed him in March to debut in its new boy group, X_ON, and says it found no legal issue. Phunky Studio and Pocketdol Studio say this "ignored industry ethics and contractual order". 5 June: his statement: "This is my second challenge... I will respond calmly through legal means." 28 June 2026: X_ON release the Japanese-language single Night's Dream. 8 October 2026: the Seoul Central District Court, first instance, orders him to pay 685 million won. Phunky Studio says the court recognised his unauthorised departure and breach of contract, calls the award too low, and is strongly considering an appeal with further damages. WHAT WE ARE NOT CLAIMING This episode does not claim any revenue split figure (none is on the court record), anything about any company's executives, whether he has paid, or what will happen to X_ON. The description of what the court recognised comes from Phunky Studio's statement; as of the morning of 9 October no response from Yu Jun-won or Conti had been reported. THE COMMENTS From the comment section under a 2023 YouTube Short reporting his exit, and one June 2026 video, quoted exactly as written. Korean comments are shown in the original with an English translation and read aloud as translated. The selection is a range, from 2023 viewers blaming him to 2025 viewers taking his side. Excluded: profanity, insults aimed at his parents, accusations against a named executive, an unverified revenue-split figure, and claims about other groups' line-ups. Attributed to the platform only.
