The 19578 Jamnagar – Tirunelveli Express is an Express train operated by the Western Railway zone of Indian Railways. It runs between Jamnagar Junction (JAM) in Gujarat and Tirunelveli Junction (TEN) in Tamil Nadu, connecting the western and southern regions of India through several major states.
The train operates twice a week and serves as an important long-distance link between Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. The Jamnagar – Tirunelveli Express covers a total distance of approximately 2,432 kilometers, taking about 45 to 48 hours to complete the full journey. Its average speed is around 54–55 km/h, including halts, making it one of the longest-running express services of Western Railway.
The train’s coach composition generally includes AC 2-Tier, AC 3-Tier, Sleeper Class, and General Unreserved coaches, along with End-on-Generation (EOG) vans, as it operates with modern LHB coaches. Coach composition may vary depending on seasonal demand and railway operational needs.
With nearly 40+ halts, the train passes through major stations such as Rajkot, Surendranagar, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Vapi, Vasai Road, and then continues on the scenic Konkan Railway route via Panvel, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Thokur, Mangaluru Junction, Kasaragod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Shoranur, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kottayam, and Tirunelveli, offering a diverse travel experience across western coastal plains, lush Konkan terrain, and southern landscapes.

It was the fourth cleanest railway station of India according to the latest "Swachh Rail, Swachh Bharat" survey in 2016.
