🖤🔥 CRADLE OF ABADDON — I BECAME THE THING I HATED 🔥🖤 THE ARCHITECTURE OF MADNESS II — TRACK 5 “I spent my life escaping monsters—and made one of myself.” What happens when a man spends his entire life fighting against the very things he eventually becomes? “I BECAME THE THING I HATED” is one of the darkest and most emotionally devastating chapters in THE ARCHITECTURE OF MADNESS II. It tells the story of a man who once promised himself that he would never become like the people who hurt him. He remembered their cruelty, their coldness, and the promises they broke. He believed his own suffering would make him different. But pain does not automatically create wisdom. And surviving cruelty does not guarantee that we will never become cruel ourselves. Somewhere between resentment and self-preservation, he began repeating the same patterns he once despised. He used the same excuses, inflicted the same wounds, and mistook control for strength. While trying to escape the shadows of his past, he unknowingly carried them into the lives of the people he loved. Now, he must face the most disturbing truth of all: the monster he spent his life running from may have been taking shape within him all along. Musically, CRADLE OF ABADDON pays tribute to the progressive metal legacy of DREAM THEATER—the technical brilliance, intricate musicianship, sophisticated rhythmic structures, and emotional depth that demonstrate how complexity can serve a powerful musical story. Inspired by that progressive spirit, this track develops its own darker identity through intricate guitar and melodic bass interplay, shifting time signatures, complex acoustic drumming, haunting keyboard textures, expressive clean vocals, desperate screams, and deep growls. A technically demanding guitar solo builds toward a crushing breakdown, followed by a fragile piano outro that leaves the listener alone with the character's confession. This is not an excuse for the man he became. His wounds help explain his history, but they do not erase his responsibility. His past shaped him, yet his choices helped define him. And now, the promise he made to his younger self lies broken. A SALUTE TO DREAM THEATER—for the progressive metal artistry that continues to inspire musicians to push beyond convention, unite technical mastery with emotional expression, and transform music into an unforgettable journey. From that inspiration, CRADLE OF ABADDON continues to forge its own path through the darker architecture of the human mind. 🎧 Listen closely. The most frightening transformation is the one we fail to recognize in ourselves. 🔥 FOLLOW CRADLE OF ABADDON: ▶️ YouTube:    / @cradleofabaddon   🎵 TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@cradleofabadd... 📘 Facebook:   / 19yt3gsejg   📸 Instagram: https://instagram.com/cradleofabaddon...
