We went to the Shenzhen Futian light show at Citizen Square on China National Day, the start of Golden Week. Hundreds of thousands of people packed the plaza to watch the skyline. I have never seen this many people in one place at the same time - the scale of the crowd was completely unreal. The city puts on this massive spectacle during major national holidays to showcase its tech power. Over 1.18 million connected LED lights on 43 skyscrapers are synchronized with rooftop lasers and searchlights, turning the entire downtown into one giant screen.
