Full HD 60FPS: Railfanning Metro-North and Amtrak on the Hudson Line with Heritage and More 6/19/26

On June 19, 2026, I finally got the opportunity to check off an item on my railfanning checklist: the evening rush hour on Metro-North Railroad’s Hudson Line. With the imminent retirement of Metro-North’s P32AC-DMs, I wanted to make sure I got to see this dying breed in prime summer evening light. On the flip side, I also saw a handful of the new SC-42DMs, which are the replacements for the P32s. Alongside the diesels are the MUs, mainly M7As; however, I was lucky enough to see one set of M3As, which are becoming less common. Additionally, I got to see some Amtrak trains on the Empire Service and the seasonal Berkshire Flyer routes, and capped the night off with CSX manifest M702 at Tarrytown.
