Unboxing review of the Cold Steel: “Black Bear Bowie” machete. This Bowie Machete is 17” inches overall with a 12” inch Blade of 65Mn Carbon Steel, with a black anti-rust coating on the blade. Full-Tang Construction. 3mm thick. Weight is 16.2 oz., it has a 5 5/8” inch polypropylene over molded handle and guard. Generous hand guard. Comes with a black Nylon belt sheath of good quality. An excellent budget friendly Bowie machete knife from Cold Steel Knives. Older versions of this blade were made of 1055 carbon steel and crafted in South Africa. This new update version is made of 65Mn carbon steel (1065 carbon steel with added Manganese) and is produced in China. (Apparently to keep it budget friendly.)
