Rag-and-bone man Tommy Deakin (Paddy Joyce) looks for someone to care for his donkey Dolores while he’s in hospital. Ray (Neville Buswell) turns on the charm with Audrey and suggests she enter a beauty contest. Elsie is horrified when Dot reveals she’s going to see Steve Tanner’s (Paul Maxwell) friend Gregg Flint (Bill Nagy). Upon hearing about Elsie and Steve’s split, Gregg visits Elsie and tells her Steve was emotionally cold and that he had tried to warn her a year ago. Lucille (Jennifer Moss) is jealous when Audrey tells her that it was Ray who encouraged her to enter the beauty contest.
