We Came for the Castle… Then This Happened

Some rides give you more than one reason to remember them. This one began by leaving Bucharest and heading toward Târgoviște and Voinesti, where the apple orchards were in bloom. Early spring has its own atmosphere there. Bare branches mixed with blossom, quiet roads, and the feeling that the season is only just beginning. From there, the route opened into the Rucăr-Bran corridor, one of Romania’s classic riding roads. Long views, mountain air, and the kind of scenery that always feels bigger in person. At Bran Castle, the road briefly meets history. Known around the world through legend, the place still carries echoes of Romanian medieval history and names like Vlad Drăculea, son of the dragon, that continue to shape how many people see it today. But the ride had another surprise waiting. Climbing through the Pârâul Rece pass, we found ourselves sharing the road with an Indian Roadmaster. A very different machine, nearly 1900cc, against the CFMOTO 800MT Explore on mountain roads. Different weight, different style, different purpose. The interesting part was how naturally the 800MT handled the moment, staying composed and confident through the bends. Later, near Secăria, the road changed again. A steep incline with poor surface conditions demanded full attention and reminded us that not every challenge comes from speed. The route finished through Valea Doftanei and back toward Bucharest, carrying that familiar feeling of a long day condensed into a few unforgettable moments. Some rides offer scenery. Some offer surprises. The best ones give you both.
