Election System | News | Jamuna TV

To date, no single party in Israel has been able to form a government on its own. Although the parliament consists of 120 seats, these are not allocated based on individual constituencies; instead, they are distributed according to a system of proportional representation (PR). In other words, seats are assigned to parties in proportion to the total number of votes they receive. This electoral system makes it practically difficult for any single party to secure the 61 seats required to form a government. Furthermore, to gain representation in the Knesset, a party must secure at least 3.25 percent of the total vote. There are no geographically-based electoral districts. Jamuna Television, also known as Jamuna TV, is a 24-hour news and current affairs television channel in Bangladesh.
