This is a no miss game recorded on the PCSX2 which is why the game looks sharper and has no slowdown.
Stage 1.0 with Arrowhead - 0:35
Stage 2.2 with Strike Bomber - 6:23
Stage 3.0 with Cross the Rubicon - 9:03
Stage 3.5 with Delta - 15:39
Stage 4.0 with Grand Finale - 19:14
Stage 5.0 with Last Dancer - 23:56
Stage 6.2 with Curtain Call - 29:47
Stage F-C with Charon - 33:07
Notes -
I wanted to use the Ragnarok II in stage 4.0 but the boss would occasionally get me and I just couldn't have that - I had to minimize risk as much as possible, so I used the Grand Finale armed with what you see here.
I practiced this for weeks before I worked up the nerve to play for real - you can see that with the lack of slowdown, even including stage 3.5, the video is shorter than my efforts on the PS2 hardware.
Since R-Type Final has cheat codes that you can enter and you start bare on Score Attack, while practicing I would enter the code to start the stage with what I'd have going in naturally. R-Type Final 2 and 3 fixed this by giving you a full Force, Bits, and Missiles when you started the stage.
I silenced the ending credits music because I didn't want a copyright claim and because honestly - the Blue Man Group song "Piano Smasher" seriously does not fit this game.
R-Type Final has its flaws, but it's still my favorite in the series, and I was happy to play it again without having to hook up my PS2, which is nearly nonfunctional now in 2026.
