Oasis - Live at T in the Park (13th July 2002)

Oasis Location: Kinross, Scotland, U.K Venue: Balado Airfield Date: 13th July 2002 Source: Multi-Sourced Recording Special: T in the Park ‘02 Appearing at T in the Park for the first time since their show in one of the smaller stages in 1994 at Strathclyde Park in Lanarkshire, for their 2002 performance, Oasis got to perform on the main stage and where the festival was now situated further north near Kinross at the disused Balado Airfield, alongside bands like the Foo Fighters and The Chemical Brothers. Oasis was announced quite late in the day, but despite Oasis only rarely playing at the Scottish festival, Noel had been coming to it as recently as the previous year. One story that happened at the time would shroud their performance however. When being asked questions before their performance Noel was asked if Oasis only agreed to headline if some sort of agreement of the line-up was included and Noel had insisted that if it was true, Starsailor wouldn’t be playing. Opinions differ on why the Gallaghers weren’t keen on Starsailor but throughout the year they’d been labelling them as “miserable moaners” and “c**ks” by them and this came to head when their frontman James Walsh came face to face with Liam, and soon things got heated resulting in Liam getting restrained by security. Once the performance comes round, you can tell Liam is pissed off, as much like the first night at Newcastle, he’s shouting a lot at the end of sentences. Despite this though he does sound stronger overall over the two Newcastle nights, though still has some trouble in spots. The band are tighter overall here too, so in some ways it can be considered a better gig than the previous few.
