1837. Colonel Howard Vyse's men break into low, hidden rooms above the King's Chamber of the Great Pyramid. On the walls: the name of King Khufu. Not carved, but daubed in red paint. It is the only king's name inside the Great Pyramid. Some say Vyse's team painted it themselves. If that were true, one of the main links between the pyramid and its king would be gone. We read what the marks say, put the forgery charge fairly, and check it. Paint can be tested, and in 2013 samples were taken. So what happened next? Part 2 of 2 of "One Name in a Corner", episode 3 of our PYRAMIDS series.
