Hiking Liechtenstein Fürstin-Gina-Weg to Augstenberg and Pfälzerhütte Loop | Full Hike POV

A 13.1 km alpine loop hike from Malbun over the Sareis ridge to the 2,359 m Augstenberg, down to the Pfälzerhütte on the Austrian border, and back via Alp Gritsch and Tälihöhi. Full-length POV recording of the Fürstin-Gina-Weg circular hike in Malbun, Liechtenstein, starting and ending in the village at 1,600 m (5,250 ft). The route covers 13.1 km (8.2 mi) with 910 m (2,990 ft) of cumulative elevation gain and a high point of 2,349 m (7,707 ft) on the Augstenberg. May 2025. Total time 4 hours 30 minutes, of which 3 hours 13 minutes moving. The climb begins straight out of Malbun, gaining height steadily along the pasture and forest edge before steepening on switchbacks to reach the Sareis area at km 2.9 (1.8 mi) at 2,039 m (6,690 ft). The Sareis chairlift normally opens in mid-June, so the whole ascent here is on foot. From the Sareiser Höhe the Fürstin-Gina-Weg proper follows the ridge south, crossing over the Spitz at km 3.7 (2.3 mi) at 2,159 m (7,083 ft), then narrowing into a flower-lined path through rocky outcrops. The final 200 m of ascent climbs directly through boulders and high rock steps to the summit cross of the Augstenberg at km 5.4 (3.4 mi) at 2,349 m (7,707 ft), the highest point of the route, with views across the Falknis chain, the Schesaplana massif and the Rätikon. The descent along the ridge toward the Pfälzerhütte is the most demanding section: steep, and rope-secured through the exposed parts. The hut sits at the Bettlerjoch on the Austrian border below the Naafkopf, reached at km 7.0 (4.3 mi) at 2,103 m (6,900 ft). The return leg drops northwest through the pastures of Alp Gritsch at km 8.7 (5.4 mi) at 1,928 m (6,325 ft), then climbs again between stone pines to the Tälihöhi pass at km 10.2 (6.3 mi) at 2,051 m (6,729 ft), the second sustained ascent of the day. From there the trail descends through the Vaduzer Täli and open meadows back into Malbun at km 13.1 (8.2 mi). Trail note: this is graded T3 alpine hiking, with exposure and fixed ropes between the Augstenberg and the Pfälzerhütte.
