EA Sports NHL '96 - All-star Season 1 Whalers Game 50 | The Whalers Stiff the Flyers in Philidelphia

On the road again the Whalers were in Philadelphia to play their rivals Flyers in Game 50. The Whalers pretty much doubled the Flyers in chances in the 1st period. They scored first too. With fourteen minutes left Geoff Sanderson was right beside the net all alone on the powerplay when Adam Burt fed him a sweet pass that he put tight to the post right along the ice blocker-side after a hit-and-steal from Eric Desjardins in front of the net after Desjardins intercepted a pass intended for Andrew Cassels. He repeated with three-and-a-half minutes left showing a great nose for the net sneaking in from the far side to take a pass right in front from Steven Rice and score on the backhand, Steven Rice who was left alone by the Flyers' defense on the powerplay. At the 1st intermission Hartford was up 2-0 with the shots at HTF 15 and PHI 7. Early in the 2nd period Hartford established the coveted 3-goal lead at 3-0. Steven Rice got help from the PHI defense who crowded Ron Hextall in the crease and gave Rice a half-a-net to shoot at from the slot off a pass from Geoff Sanderson. Three minutes later Geoff Sanderson had a tap-in from the side of the net after a beauty pass by Steven Rice who stole the puck and dipsy-doodled in the PHI zone until he spotted Sanderson sneaking to the side of the net for his hat-trick. Ron Hextall was out after that and Dominic Roussel came in. At the 2nd intermission Hartford had a 4-0 lead and the shots were HTF 41 and PHI 11. Philadelphia avoided the shut-out when Mikael Renberg beat Sean Burke blocker-side with a hard shot from between the hashes after a quick pass from Eric Lindros after winning the face-off eight-and-a-half minutes into the 3rd period. The game's final goal came with nine minutes to go. Geoff Sanderson snuck in beside the net and was fed by Steven Rice from the other side again and had another tap-in for his fourth goal of the game welcoming Dominic Roussel to the party. The game ended 5-1 for Hartford. Goaltending was a story with Dominic Roussel having a 0.968 save % stopping 30 of 31 after coming in for Hextall and Sean Burke at 0.945 save % too. Enjoy!
