Phrase Rhythm in Classical and Popular Music

A 35-minute tutorial on phrase rhythm—the interaction between meter and grouping—in classical and popular music. I survey basic concepts (with musical examples) and show that there are some striking similarities in the ways that classical composers and modern pop musicians use phrase rhythm.
