In a celebration of the Cosmic Mother—Jaganmata, the embodiment of universal energy—this unique musical presentation is a ragamalika that journeys through the timeless verses of Aigiri Nandini, the stotra of Mahishasura Mardini. The title "Shailasute" emphasizes both Parvati’s divine origin and her lofty strength, like that of the Himalayas. Comprising 21 verses, the composition is rendered by five groups, each representing one of the Pancha Bhootas—the five fundamental elements of creation. Each BGM in this offering is thoughtfully composed to embody the essence of a Panchabhoota, immersing the listener in the elemental world of Apas (Water), Prithvi (Earth), Akasha (Sky), Vayu (Air), Agni (Fire). Through carefully chosen instruments, tonal textures, and rhythmic patterns, the soundscape becomes an extension of the divine narrative—transforming music into the very fabric of creation. Each group brings to life the essence of its respective element, using carefully chosen ragas that resonate with the elemental quality they depict. Through dynamic rhythm, melody, and devotional intensity, this piece not only honors the fierce and benevolent form of Durga but also reflects the eternal play of nature’s forces within and around us. Guided by the vision and artistry of Dr. Bhagya Murthy, and brought forth by her dedicated ensemble—the Ashtalakshmees—this performance is both a musical invocation and a spiritual experience, culminating in a unified offering at the feet of the Divine Mother.
