Bank of America's Museums on Us gives cardholders free general admission on the first full weekend of every month — and in October 2026 that's Saturday the 3rd and Sunday the 4th.
Hundreds of museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art. But there's a bracket printed next to a lot of those museum names on the bank's own list that costs people the whole trip, and almost nobody reads it. Every part of this graded out loud — free, discount, depends on your museum — and dated, plus the honest part: this is a cardholder programme, not a senior programme, and I say so.
WHAT'S IN THIS ONE
1. The offer — free general admission, first FULL weekend of every month, next is Sat Oct 3 and Sun Oct 4, 2026 — FREE
2. Who qualifies — Bank of America, Merrill or Bank of America Private Bank CREDIT AND DEBIT cardholders. No age requirement at all. Not a senior programme — and not a reason to open an account
3. What you hand over — the active card plus a government-issued photo ID (passport booklet, state ID, driver license), and "one general admission only per eligible cardholder", so a guest pays
4. THE BRACKET — a lot of these museums are "Saturdays only" or "Sundays only", not the whole weekend: Bakersfield Museum of Art · Museum of Latin American Art Long Beach · San José Museum of Art · Atlanta History Center · Columbus Museum of Art · Speed Art Museum Louisville · Delaware Art Museum · Griffin Museum of Science and Industry Chicago · Barnes Foundation · The Jewish Museum NY — DEPENDS ON YOUR MUSEUM
5. What it does NOT cover — special and ticketed exhibitions, enhanced experiences, fundraising events, and it "does not guarantee admission" or combine with other offers. Parking isn't mentioned, so assume you pay — NOT COVERED
6. Worth the drive — Met Fifth Avenue AND the Met Cloisters · MFA Boston · Art Institute of Chicago · LACMA, the Autry and the Skirball · National WWII Museum New Orleans · Henry Ford Museum · Philadelphia Museum of Art · three Carnegies in Pittsburgh · and FOUR in Denver on the same weekend — FREE
7. The honest bit — nothing on this list is dead and I'm not inventing one to balance the sheet. The discount next to it: many of these museums have a senior admission price on the other 29 days — DISCOUNT
TELL ME YOUR TOWN
Leave a comment with your town, which museum is nearest you, and whether the list says Saturday, Sunday or both. I read every one and I answer them, and I use them to build the next list.

5:52 Number four: the bracket on the list — Saturdays only, Sundays only
7:07 Number five: what the free admission does not cover

Everything here was checked on 26 September 2026 against Bank of America's own published partner list and terms. Participating museums, days and procedures change monthly and vary by location — read your own museum's entry and ring its admission desk before you drive. The offer does not guarantee admission.
