Paramount Skydance is making one of the biggest bets in Hollywood history — a deal valuing Warner Bros. Discovery at roughly $110 billion in enterprise value. But this isn’t just another Hollywood merger. Behind the headline are tens of billions in financing, enormous debt, a bidding battle involving Netflix, billions in promised cost savings, major regulatory challenges, and some of the most valuable entertainment brands in the world. In this documentary, The Greed Files investigates how Paramount fought for Warner Bros. Discovery, why the deal became so expensive, what David Ellison and Paramount Skydance are actually buying, and whether becoming bigger will really solve Hollywood’s biggest problems. The transaction values Warner Bros. Discovery at approximately $110 billion in enterprise value and around $81 billion in equity value, with Paramount agreeing to pay $31 in cash for each WBD share. The announced financing included roughly $47 billion in equity, while the combined company is expected to carry a very large debt burden. The deal brings together some of the biggest names in entertainment: • Paramount Pictures • Warner Bros. • HBO and HBO Max • CBS • CNN • Paramount+ • Discovery • Nickelodeon • MTV • DC • Harry Potter • Game of Thrones • Mission: Impossible • Top Gun • SpongeBob SquarePants This documentary also explores the bidding war that involved Netflix, Paramount’s $31-per-share offer, the billions in financing behind the acquisition, the more than $6 billion in expected annual savings, and the risks of combining two enormous media companies. We also look at the regulatory fight surrounding the merger. The U.S. Department of Justice closed its antitrust investigation in June 2026. California and 11 other U.S. states later challenged the deal, while the Writers Guild of America also brought its own case. Those legal challenges were settled in September 2026, removing the final major litigation barrier. The settlement included major conditions around theatrical film output, U.S. production spending, cable negotiations, studio protections, labour commitments and the creation of a News Editorial Independence Board for CNN and CBS. The big question is simple: Will this $110 billion combination create a stronger Hollywood company capable of competing with Netflix, Disney, Amazon and Apple? Or will Paramount discover that becoming bigger also means taking on bigger risks?
