At 3:00 AM on a winter night above the Arctic Circle, a ship pulls into a tiny Norwegian island for just fifteen minutes. A father waits beneath a single light while his teenage daughter leaves for school hundreds of kilometres away. By morning, the ship is gone, and the island is silent again.
This is life along Norway’s extraordinary coast. In this cinematic 4K journey, we travel from Bergen to Kirkenes, through glacier-carved fjords, cliff farms, remote islands, Lofoten fishing villages, Svalbard and the Arctic tundra. Along the way, we meet people who build houses for wild ducks, children who earn money cutting cod tongues, communities connected by electric ferries, and a coastal ship that keeps arriving even in the darkest winter.
So how do people live well at the very edge of the habitable world?
The answer may explain why Norwegians say: “There is no bad weather, only bad clothes.”
