The Last Days of Summer in Alaska | Autumn Is Already Here

Late August in Alaska - fishing at Chena Lake, harvesting the greenhouse, baking homemade bread, cooking freshly caught trout, and enjoying quiet moments at home with Molly and Tom. The last week of August already feels like the beginning of autumn here in Interior Alaska. The trees are slowly turning yellow, the nights are getting colder and darker, and the short Alaskan summer is beginning to fade. This week, I spent a peaceful morning fishing at Chena Lake, brought home fresh rainbow trout, gathered tomatoes and cucumbers from the greenhouse, made candles for the darker evenings, and spent a cozy evening cooking dinner, baking bread, and making oatmeal cookies with our own honey and lingonberries. And somewhere in between all of that - walks through the forest, Molly enjoying her quiet naps, and little Tom discovering the world around him (and becoming very interested in our chickens). 😊 Just another quiet week of everyday life in Alaska, as summer slowly gives way to autumn.
