Drainage pump stations and flood protection in Richmond

The City of Richmond provides drainage and flood protection for its residents, businesses and agriculture. Richmond sits at an average of one metre above sea level. To protect land from river and ocean flooding, the City manages 49 km of dikes, 39 drainage pump stations and 800 km of drainage systems. As part of the City's broader capital program, pump station and dike upgrades are defined through rigorous technical analysis and planning, and form part of the City's long term flood protection strategy.
