How to Finish AI-Built Websites: A New Service for Web Designers [ Think Inside The Square 102 ]

Your Next Web Design Client Might Already Have an AI-Built Website Your next web design client might not show up with a blank page and ask you to build the whole thing. They may already have a website concept they created with AI — complete with layouts, copy, images, and a design they actually like. What they need is someone who can finish it. In this episode of *Think Inside the Square*, I’m talking about how web designers can turn AI-built websites into something functional, accessible, manageable, and actually ready to publish. Because I don’t think the biggest problem with an AI-generated website is that it looks like AI. The bigger questions are: Can the client maintain it? Does it actually work? Is it accessible and responsive? Does the copy sound like the business? Is the technology more complicated than it needs to be? And does the website actually communicate what it needs to communicate? For Squarespace designers, this creates a completely different kind of client project. Instead of entering at the beginning, we may start entering at the 60–80% mark — taking something the client already created and using our design judgment, platform knowledge, and technical experience to get it across the finish line. AI started it. You finish it. In this episode, I’m sharing how I’m already seeing this happen with clients, what I think designers should focus on when finishing AI-built websites, and why this shift could create an entirely new service opportunity for web designers.
