WIND RIDGE HIKE ZIA TAHIR 04 SEP 2026

September 4, 2026 Wind Ridge Hike — Rain, Clouds, Green Slopes, and Good Decisions! 🌧️⛰️ 15 km with 1,026 m of elevation gain — the kind of day that starts with Plan A falling apart and somehow still turns into a mountain adventure worth remembering. 😄 At 6 AM, the weather made a dramatic entrance and forced us to abandon our original objective. So we quickly switched gears and went hunting for a hike where we could still have fun in the mountains, even if the sky decided to keep raining on us. Wind Ridge became the lucky pick! I last did this hike in 2022, and apparently my memory had made it a little more “sunny and perfect” than reality. 😂 From about 7 AM to 3 PM, the sun was basically on vacation, and it rained for nearly 80% of the hike. But honestly, the moody weather made the mountains look pretty epic. Neighboring peaks were wrapped in clouds or sitting just below them, which gave us that “yep, we made the right call” feeling about skipping the bigger objective. After last week’s very wet Lipsett experience — probably our worst heavy-rain hike so far — we actually learned our lesson. This time, the rain gear went on early, and wow, did that decision pay off! 🙌 And the views? Absolutely worth it. Wind Ridge is full of those beautiful green slopes I love, and even with the cold, clouds, and rain, I tried to soak in every bit of it. We even stretched the hike a little farther toward the Rimwall base, adding about another kilometre so we could explore more and still hit at least 1,000 m of elevation gain. Overall, Wind Ridge delivered exactly what we needed: a safe, scenic, rainy-but-fun adventure with big views, good laughs, and another reminder that sometimes Plan B becomes the best story. A couple of hands-on spots here and there, but nothing sketchy or technical — just a solid mountain day with a little extra weather drama. 😎🌲⛰️ Photo Credit Elodie Tamdem
