A Weekend in Athens (Saturday Archive)

My lovely trip to Athens! I loved my short stay there. My airport transfer was a taxi driven by a clone of Demis Roussos (I think his name was Andreas). The one and only time I have walked through 'Arrivals' and someone has met me with a board with my name on it! It was about an hour drive to my hotel (central Athens). Andrea's proved to be an amazing introduction to the city, for tge simple reason that he was proud of his city! In my very English way (after being asked if it was my first time in Athens), I told him I had never even set foot in Greece before, so he told me all the things to do and see. That hour journey went so quickly. A couple of days later, I was pleased to see that Andreas was once again there to meet me. He asked me how I had found Athens, so this time it was me telling him all that I had done and seen. My main memories of this trip now are Andreas, the heat, car horns, the amazing history, the smell of sweet desserts and my trip to a Bistro on my last day. This was the only time I have ever attended an international 'Meetup' (I attend a lot of my hikes through 'Meetup'). Saturday Archive is a weekly mix of archive memories.
