Absu_NTQL, real name Šimon Sýkora, is a Slovak Drum & Bass producer and DJ based in Prague. His journey into electronic music started through experimentation with production and a wide range of bass-driven styles. Over time, those early influences developed into the darker and more technical sound that now defines Absu_NTQL. A major step in that journey came after moving to Prague in 2018. Surrounded by one of Central Europe’s most active Drum & Bass scenes, he continued to develop both his production skills and his identity as an artist. Absu_NTQL combines aggressive drums, distorted bass structures and precise sound design with an experimental approach to arrangement. His tracks often move between stripped-back tension and chaotic Neurofunk energy, using sudden switches, unusual rhythms and heavily processed textures to create a sound that remains unpredictable. There is a strong technical character to his productions, but complexity is never the only focus. Atmosphere, movement and progression play an equally important role. Tracks such as Premise and Conclusion show his interest in building concepts around the music, while releases like Temple, Urusai, Result and Dark Room explore different sides of his darker Drum & Bass sound. Over the years, he has released music through labels including Hanzom Music, Darkshire Sound, Impact Music and Blackout Music. His catalogue reflects an artist who is constantly refining his production while pushing toward more detailed and unconventional territory. Collaborations have also become an important part of his work. Absu_NTQL has connected with artists such as Zigi SC, A-Cray, Karpa, PRDK and Badlokk, placing him firmly within a new generation of producers shaping the Central European Neurofunk and experimental Drum & Bass scene. Hanzom Music has played an important role in that development, providing a platform for releases such as Premise / Conclusion and the Ambivalent EP. These projects highlight his ability to combine technical precision with a more personal and experimental approach to heavy electronic music. His connection to the wider Czech and Slovak bass scene also extends into the Darkshire universe, where underground culture, visual identity and powerful soundsystems come together. It is an environment that fits naturally with the darker and more uncompromising side of Absu_NTQL’s music. Behind the decks, the same philosophy carries into his DJ sets. Fast transitions, heavy selections and constant changes in energy create performances designed around momentum rather than individual drops. Neurofunk remains at the center of his sound, but Absu_NTQL continues to reach beyond its traditional boundaries. Elements of experimental electronic music, halftime, industrial textures and unconventional bass design all become part of the same creative language. For Absu_NTQL, Drum & Bass is a space for experimentation, pressure and constant evolution. Through detailed sound design, technical production and an uncompromising underground approach, he continues to build a sound that is distinctly his own.
