Oct CIB: From Policy to Practice: Accelerating ADU Development Under the ROAD to Housing Act
Our guest speakers will be..
Noerena Limón, Chief Executive Officer at Casita Coalition
Anna Teye-Kasongo, Assistant Executive Director at Affordable Housing Alliance of Central Ohio (AHACO)
Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs)—often called backyard casitas, garage conversions, or in-law suites—are a critical tool in increasing affordable housing in communities across the country.
The recent passage of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act opens powerful new opportunities to expand housing supply. The landmark legislation helps homeowners finance ADU construction by broadening access to government-backed, lower-down-payment loans. It also directs HUD to establish guidance and best-practice frameworks for state and local zoning regulations—easing restrictions on permitting, parking minimums, and lot density.
Join NCST alongside guest presenters from Casita Coalition and AHACO for an insightful conversation on how local communities have championed ADUs and navigated accessible financing for them, and how the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act creates new momentum for ADU development in California, Ohio, and nationwide.
