THE DOOR TO DIGNITY: CREATING PATHWAYS FOR YOUTH EMPLOYMENT AND COMMUNITY GROWTH. In this episode, two initiatives, FirstRand's FirstJob Programme and Ivanplats' Platreef Project, are creating meaningful economic opportunities to tackle high youth unemployment and transform communities. The FirstJob Programme addresses youth unemployment by offering 12-month graduate internships that build confidence, workplace readiness and financial independence through partnerships with NGOs, corporates and community organisations. This allows young people to gain essential experience and mentorship, and support their families for the first time. The Platreef Project in Mokopane is redefining mining by focusing on mechanisation, world-class training and inclusive economic participation. Local residents receive technical training on simulators and advanced machinery. The project also uplifts community businesses through supplier development and infrastructure investments, like the Masodi Wastewater Treatment Plant.
