TAP Air Portugal is being part-privatised. Lufthansa won the sale, paying €1.2 billion for less than half the airline, after a year-long contest with Air France-KLM that IAG walked away from. Portugal keeps control: a 50.1 per cent stake, the chairman’s seat and the final say on routes, jobs and pay. Lufthansa’s CEO knew the terms and bid anyway.
