Bringing Sustainable Water Solutions to Drought-Affected Communities | Siraro, Oromia Region. Access to safe and reliable water can transform lives. In Siraro Woreda, Oromia Region, Positive Action for Development (PAD), with funding support from the Ethiopia Humanitarian Fund (EHF) and in partnership with ASDEPO and Nexus, implemented integrated humanitarian interventions to support drought-affected communities. This documentary highlights PAD’s WASH interventions, with a particular focus on the Boye Awarakasa solar-powered water pumping system, a sustainable solution designed to improve access to safe water while reducing operational costs, environmental impact, and the time and labor burden placed on women and girls. Through the voices and experiences of community members, the film explores how improved access to water is contributing to better hygiene, health, livelihoods, and opportunities for women and children. The wider humanitarian response reached more than 55,000 drought-affected people through interventions spanning WASH, agriculture, livestock, health, and cash assistance.
