Philippines to Borneo - Travel Day as cheap as I can afford! Zamboanga City to Kota Kinabalu

With my visa about to run out for The Philippines, it was time to start a new adventure in a new country. The route I was to take on my travel day was from Zamboanga City to Manila then finally flying into Kota Kinabalu. The journey started at 2 in the afternoon and finished at 3 in the morning. It was a long travel day with no sleep! The only surprise I had was landing in Kota Kinabula, which is on the Malaysian side of Borneo, I was asked to complete a registration document (maybe a visa) before entering the country. For UK nationals, we don't need a visa, so maybe this is to check on where tourists are going in case of emergencies?
