It is the sacred land of Saint Morya Gosavi (14th–16th century CE), one of Lord Ganesha's greatest devotees and propagator of the Gānapatya Sampradaya. It is believed that Lord Ganesha blessed Saint Morya Gosavi that his name would forever be chanted along with the Lord's name—giving rise to our beloved chant: "Ganpati Bappa Morya!" Saint Morya Gosavi established the Mangalmurti Wada and later took Sanjeevan Samadhi on the banks of the Pavana River in Chinchwad.
