During our short stay at Copenhagen, we took a day trip to visit Helsingør and Helsingborg. Starting from Copenhagen, we took a direct train to Helsingør and visited the Kronborg Castle - a castle that inspired and set the stage for William Shakespeare’s Hamlet. We then took the short 20 minute ferry to Sweden’s Helsingborg, which is just 4-5 km apart at the narrowest point. Helsingborg was once part of Denmark, and controlling this narrow straits made Denmark very rich, hence the grand Kronborg Castle and its cannons. At Helsingborg, we visited the Kärnan Tower & the beautiful town, all within walking distance from the ferry terminal & train station. We completed the loop, taking the train from there back to Copenhagen on the Swedish side, passing by Malmo and CPH airport.
This is something you can do easily without driving, as the public transportation works well for this day trip. I just wished I had more time in Copenhagen to visit other day trips like visiting Viking museums or villages, or even take a day trip just to visit Malmo, where accommodation could be cheaper over in Sweden. Taking the train (or ferry) to cross both countries is easy - even for non-EU visitors. The train from Helsingborg actually stops at CPH airport as a regular stop.
After this, we concluded our 1.5 months Europe trip, flying back to Singapore via Beijing. Both cities managed to awe us, despite visiting so many other beautiful European cities prior to that.
This video is primarily my travel diary and uploading in YouTube is for easy viewing and sharing with family and close friends. Almost all videos are shot on my DJI Action 5 Pro on ‘auto’ mode, and edited on my 13” M2 iPad Air’s iMovie app.
Music credits - Simone Kopmajer. I simple love her songs.
